Felix Gutsche is currently President of Boehringer Ingelheim Greater China (Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan). He joined Boehringer Ingelheim in 1997 and has held various financial management positions including Head of Financial Controlling in Italy, Chief Financial Officer in Mexico and Chief Financial Officer in Germany. In addition, he has served as Global GBS Project Leader. Before his current role in Greater China region, he has extensive cross-functional and cross-business expertise, having also served as head of the company’s major global business integration project and as head of corporate strategy and consulting.
During his tenure as President and CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim Greater China, Mr. Gutsche has vigorously impelled rapid development of Boehringer Ingelheim in China. Under his leadership, the company has introduced a stream of novel businesses and products, and forged multiple innovative partnerships, which have significantly improved not only the company’s market share in China but also the strategic position of the Chinese market on the global scale. In addition to settling a biopharmaceutical manufacturing base of international standards in China, Boehringer Ingelheim has also actively participated in the reform pilot of China’s Marketing Authorization Holder system, helping local innovative biopharma companies build capabilities on production and market launch, and therefore benefiting patients worldwide. In 2020, Boehringer Ingelheim launched the China External Innovation Hub and rolled out the “China Key ” strategy, which are expected to boost China’s frontier healthcare R&D and early clinical studies.
