Christine Zhou

Dr. Christine Zhou Xia Ping is Senior Vice President & President of Region China, a member of Novo Nordisk’s global Management Board, and a member of the Executive Committee of RDPAC (R&D Based Pharmaceutical Association Committee).

Christine has extensive experience from a number of senior leadership roles in the pharma industry, both in China and global markets. She joined Novo Nordisk in April 2018 from the role of Senior Vice President and Head of Bio-Medicines and Oncology with Lilly in China.

In her 27-year career in the pharma industry, Christine dedicated more than half of her time in China, but has 11 years of experience in the US and Asia. Christine has held leadership positions within various functions including marketing and sales, international government affairs, global strategy, late phase drug development and general management in US, China and Malaysia. The diverse work experiences have given her a robust and well-rounded view of the industry and global perspectives, coupled with deep China insights. Christine has been responsible for driving innovation and sustainable business growth, both from the pipeline development and commercial perspective, through her roles leading global therapy area-specific development platforms, as a General Manager and as President of Novo Nordisk Region China.

Christine is actively engaged in advocating for public health, particularly in chronic disease management. She has been a speaker at Summer Davos in China, providing thought leadership on the industry.

Christine was raised and educated in China, and is a physician by training. She started her career as a medical doctor in Zhongshan Hospital after graduating from Shanghai Medical University in 1988, before switching to the pharma industry as a product manager in 1994. In 2010, Christine attended the General Management Leadership Program at Columbia Business School. Christine is also an alumni of Harvard after she completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School in 2012.
